I've been playing table tennis for about 2 years now and I'm looking to upgrade from my current setup (Yasaka Mark V on forehand and backhand). My playing style is offensive with strong forehand loops and I'm comfortable with medium-fast speed. I've been researching different rubber options and narrowed down to a few choices, but I'm still confused about which one would work best for my playing style: 1. **Butterfly Tenergy 05** - Everyone recommends this but it's quite expensive. Is it worth the price? 2. **DHS Hurricane 3** - Good reviews and more affordable. How does it compare to Tenergy? 3. **Tibhar Evolution MX-P** - Seems like a good middle ground option. My budget is around ₹4000-5000 for forehand rubber. I play at intermediate level and participate in district tournaments. Would love to hear your experiences with these rubbers or any other recommendations!

I've used all three rubbers you mentioned. Tenergy 05 is fantastic but honestly for intermediate level, I'd recommend starting with Tibhar Evolution MX-P. It gives you great spin and speed at a much more affordable price. You can always upgrade to Tenergy later when your technique is more refined. The performance difference won't be as noticeable at intermediate level.

Thanks for the advice! I hadn't considered that the price difference might not translate to performance at my level. What sponge thickness would you recommend for MX-P?

Go with 2.1mm for forehand. It gives a good balance of speed and control. Anything thicker might be too fast to control initially.

I agree with coach. MX-P is excellent value for money. Been using it for a year and very satisfied.

DHS Hurricane 3 is a classic but it requires good technique to use effectively. It's harder and less forgiving than European rubbers. If you're not boosting it, you might find it too stiff. I'd suggest trying it on a friend's racket first before buying. That said, if you can master it, the spin is incredible!

This is important advice. Hurricane 3 needs to be boosted to perform at its best, which adds to the cost and maintenance. For someone at intermediate level, it might be more hassle than it's worth.

Since you're participating in tournaments, I'd also suggest looking at Andro Rasant Grip. It's similar to MX-P but with slightly better durability. The price is comparable and it's easier to maintain. I switched from Tenergy to Rasant and honestly don't miss the extra ₹2000 I was spending.
